Another phone message for Essa residents PDF Print E-mail
By Kate Harries AWARE Simcoe October 24 2010
Essa residents have received a phone message from a group that describes itself as the Coalition for Political Awareness (interesting name: no connection to AWARE Simcoe, of course) "alerting" voters to the potential for conflict of interest if voting for Terry Dowdall (mayor) or Sandie MacDonald (deputy mayor).
AWARE Simcoe examined the conflict allegations in its October 18 report of the Angus candidates’ debate.

We all hate the telemarketers, but they seem to keep going after the prize because it works sometimes. These phone messages are like the Nigerian Prince emails. They are absolutely bogus and the people sending them don't have the nerve to deliver these messages face to face or to give a return phone number so we can discuss where they get their "facts and figures" from. Ignore the phone hype and vote for the candidates that are most deserved to be in office! Sandie and Terry were both elected to office after their respective spouses had been hired by the Township. I see no conflict of interst here.

I totally agree with the above comment. Paul Macdonald has been a fire fighter for over 30 years; and there is nothing about his position that places Sandie in a conflict of interest. Terry and his wife both obviously deeply care about Essa, and somehow this is being turned against them???
And while we are on the subject, what about the fact that the Guergis's own half of Angus, and Dave's entire family is in politics.... but nooooo no conflict there...(sarcasm)
It is ridiculous that some candidates have resorted to blantant lying. Sandie and Terry have taken the high road and refused to engage in this disgusting display of childish behaviour
